Working of Special Branch:

The Special Branch works under the supervision of the Superintendent of Police. When any tour or program is organized for a VIP/VVIP or Hon'ble High Court Judge, then, as per protocol and from a security point of view, the Special Branch provides the necessary convoy, escort, and other police bandobast at public meetings and other places where the VIP/VVIP/Judges visit in Akola district.

The Special Branch mainly works during all kinds of elections, festivals, public meetings, demonstrations, dharnas, strikes, and morchas, which are organized by various laborers/employees, social organizations, or political parties. An important responsibility of the Special Branch is to collect information about such programs to maintain law and order and ensure security in Akola district. If any minor incident occurs and creates law and order problems at any police station, then, at that time, the Special Branch gives necessary instructions to prevent any untoward incident.

Akola district is a communally and politically very sensitive district. The officers and personnel of the Special Branch keep a close watch on unlawful activities and vital installations in Akola district. As per the order of the Superintendent of Police, the Special Branch also conducts special drives from time to time to detect and deport illegally staying Bangladeshis, Pakistanis, and other foreigners.
